Are you part of an Iowa non-profit community organization with a great story to tell? The Press is pleased to consider your idea for a book project that would represent the work you do and the individuals you serve. Because our publishing process is a 2-year partnership, we seek organizations who meet a set of criteria that suggests the right fit for a community-publishing model. We also recommend that you become familiar with our publications.
To find out if the Drake Community Press is right for your organization, the first step in the process is to complete this applicant survey. We will respond to all inquiries. If we feel your project could be right for us, we will request additional materials to aid in our decision and then work with to create a proposal to present to the Advisory Board of the Drake Community Press. Before starting, we request that you note the Timeline for our 2-year process.
Thank you for your interest in the Drake Community Press!
“The Drake Community Press at Drake University provides highly unique opportunities to identify projects of significant community impact, to gather information, resources, and interest and to follow through with the selection and production of publications that might otherwise not be possible. The Press has identified interested professionals and volunteers to serve on the board in an advisory capacity. I am honored to have the opportunity to serve and look forward to working together toward a future that provides the quality of work already produced in Zakery’s Bridge and The Ones I Bring With Me.”
Judy Conlin: Executive Director of the Iowa International Center
“Dr. Carol Spaulding-Kruse and The Drake University Press provided a working procedural framework, collaborative communication, and cross-disciplinary expertise to prepare and publish a bilingual English/Spanish book with stories of Latinas in Iowa and the challenges they face. Both the process and the product are testimony of the competence of all who were involved in the publication of The Ones I Bring With Me.”
