Goal & purpose of our event: To gather interested students and community members from all backgrounds for learning, story sharing and constructive action around environmental justice in Iowa. We’ll have appetizers & finger food & beverages to keep you nourished as you share, learn and play.

Know Your Roots Workshop & Interactive Session

5-6 PM: Keynote by Dr. Carolyn Finney, author of Black Faces, White Spaces

6-7 PM:  “Know Your Roots” story sharing session

7-8 PM: Interactive session with “stations” for guests, including

  • a book signing corner with Carolyn Finney
  • a nonprofit networking table for community members to learn about how EJ intersects with their mission
  • how to create change around EJ in Iowa – get involved with Iowa Environmental Council
  • interview corner (share your own story for possible inclusion in our book)
  • learn about Drake Environmental Action League (DEAL)
